Board Activities
Since IASA’s start, Patricia has facilitated IASA members contributing to varied initiatives, guarded the funds, corrected documents with an eagle eye, chaired Board meetings, liaised with the attorney and suggested initiatives.
As Vice Chair, Andrea created and managed the IASA website. He organized, with the collaboration of Franco Baldoni, and chaired the first IASA conference in Bertinoro in 2008. Andrea was also the Budget Chair for the 2012 conference in Frankfurt, responsible for membership (flyers, payment, etc.) and wrote For Members Only while the DMM News was on hiatus. He participated in the IASA Family Court Working Group and co- chaired the Integrative Treatment working group. Rodolfo is the Congress Committee Chair at the next IASA Congress in Miami and will be the IASA Chair in 2015.
The Treasurer provides general financial oversight for IASA, prepares the annual budget, reviews monthly income and expenditure, prepares the annual financial report, oversees the annual financial audit and tax return, files state corporation papers, and manages bank accounts and payment systems.
Other work by Lane includes Co-Chair, with Patricia Crittenden, of the 2012 Program Committee. He organized the Attachment and Psychopathology meeting in Houston, 2013 and spoke at Kentucky Psychological Association Webinar, April 2013.
The Secretary writes executive minutes of board meetings, arranges Skype meetings
of the Board, sorts out incoming IASA emails and distributes them to the appropriate members of the Board. The Secretary also sends messages of appreciation to people who make financial contributions to IASA.
Bente Nilsen, with former board member Martin Stokowy, co-constructed the handbook and training for incoming board members. She was also Promotion Chair for the Frankfurt conference in 2012, and organized the 2008 Oslo course in Attachment and Psychopathology. Bente is now responsible for Governance, making sure that IASA Board are working in accord with the By Laws and the Constitution of IASA.
DMM News is one of the key member benefits of IASA and is a great way for members to find out about emerging research, news, people and events. 15 issues have been published since 2007, covering different topics including Prevention and early intervention; Child trauma and sexual abuse; Fostering and adoption; Psychosomatics; The Bertinoro, Cambridge and Frankfurt IASA Conferences; The DMM-AAI (3 issues, with Nicola Sahhar as co-editor). DMM News includes translations into languages other than English, including Italian, German, French, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese.
Other important developments include the creation of the DMM News logo and the style sheet (Blows, Crittenden, Letourneau, Baldoni).
The current editorial board of DMM News is Franco Baldoni (Editor-in-Chief), Patricia Crittenden and Andrea Landini. Clark Baim assists with copy editing.
Duties of this role include: organizing the IASA training and research grants; setting
up a committee for the grants, to evaluate the applications and choose the recipients; preparing reports for the Internal Revenue Service on the traineeships and small grants. Focus of grants in past years: 2010: CARE-Index trainers; 2012: SAA, AAI; 2014: Toddlers CARE-Index, TAAI, Parents’ Interview.
